Filmmaker Portfolio
Client portfolio for a filmmaker. Quiet UI, loud work.
THE BRIEF
HAO, a Taipei filmmaker, needed a portfolio where the work stayed louder than the interface.
The goal was not building a cinematic website. It was helping people reach the videos, stay with them, and remember them.
WHAT I DECIDED
Vertical carousel.
One project at a time. The site needed pacing closer to scrolling through a reel than scanning a thumbnail grid.
Dark mode only.
Closer to an editing workspace than a marketing page. The interface stays in the background while color grading and footage carry the attention.
VCR / timecode language.
REC indicators, scanline ticks, timestamps. Enough film grammar to set a mood. Not enough to become a costume.
YouTube embeds.
The client already published and managed work there. Adding another video pipeline would increase maintenance without improving the outcome.
